Horry County Search and Rescue (HCSAR) is an all-volunteer, professional, autonomous 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving Horry County, SC, and the broader Grand Strand. Our mission is to locate, rescue, and return missing or endangered persons, free of charge. We achieve this through rapid response with highly trained ground, K-9, drone, and specialized assets, alongside community preparedness programs and inter-agency partnerships.
HCSAR maintains national certifications and strict operating guidelines, allowing immediate activation without bureaucratic delays. As self-funded, unpaid volunteers, we incur zero cost to requesting agencies. Our core capabilities include Ground Search Teams, K-9 Units, Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UAS), Technical Rescue, and Incident Management. We provide 24/7 assistance to law enforcement and government agencies, from pre-incident planning to post-incident documentation. HCSAR receives no tax dollars, relying solely on donations, grants, and volunteer commitment for mission-critical operations. We welcome volunteers, donations, and partnerships.
